Musical Glasses

The best tune on the musical glasses is a toast used by the sergeant in chapter 5 of Great Expectations, to. Celebrate camaraderie and drinking. 

Musical Glasses: A novelty 18th century instrument, which was very popular.  It was also called glass harmonica played by wet fingers.  It produced a clear ringing melodious sound.  The sergeant compares the ringing sound of clinking wine glasses to the sweet music of glass harmonica., wishing long life to Mr Pumblechook. 

Soldiers visit Joe Gargery's forge to fix handcuffs before chasing escaped convicts.  A celebratory drinking atmosphere breaks out. Mr Pumblechook acts overly generous with wine showing comic pomposity and self importance.
