Catechism

A catechism is a summary of religious doctrine, typically presented in question- and-answer format used to instruct the people in the core beliefs of a Christian religion.  It grounds the believers in foundational teachings like Ten Commandments, the Lords Prayer and the Creed.  The word comes from the Greek term katecheo, meaning to teach orally.  Early Christians used oral instructions to prepare new converts to baptism.
