Great river of Kara-moran coming from the land of Prester John. It is full, broad and deep.  There are on it 15000 full vessels. All belonging to Khan for conveying goods to islands.

Each of these ships requires fifteen mariners, and carry provisions and fifteen horses with riders, and other things necessary for them. By crossing the river we enter the province of Manji.
