Moschophagoi
Moschophagoi is the Greek name applied to the people living in that region. It means calf-eaters or young cattle eaters. This is an exonym given by Greeks to people residing in that area. It does not necessarily mean these people called themselves by that name. And there is an interesting point in the Periplus. He is not giving a modern style geographical description; his naming may be based on earlier
information collected.
